Car Lot Sticker Shock

1Recently I’ve had the pleasure *insert eyeroll* of shopping for a car. I’ve purchased two cars in my adult life. I drove my first car for 8 years and I’ve had my current car for 12 years. (Which of course means I started driving when I was 5. )  I should also add that both cars were pre-owned. Funny  how that sounds so much classier than used.

Anyway, the check engine light in my current car has been on for 6 months. (Just call me Penny) But, I did take the car in for service, and they said it was the light that was faulty, not the engine. While that is good news, I now have no way of knowing if I actually need to check said engine. And now the brake light has come on to join the party. Since my car is a 2000, fixing the lights and the persistent oil leak would cost more than the Kelley Blue Book Value of the car.

So, much to my displeasure I’ve been visiting dealerships online and in person. And holy crap, how car costs have changed. I am suffering a serious case of sticker shock even on my preferred pre-owned cars. I want a car with leather seats because I transport large furry beasts to the vet on a regular basis.

I would also love a car with a navigation system. The one on my phone goes in and out at the most inconvenient times. I had a Garmin that my father purchased for me since I inherited my severe lack of geographical skills from him. The Garmin died the last time I tried to update the maps.

So, if anyone knows of a car/SUV that is good for dogs, won’t let me get lost, and has a payment that does not cost the equivalent of a month’s rent leave me a note in the comments.
