When Ben Shepherd emailed and asked if I’d put together a list of books I’d recommend based around a certain theme, I was excited. There are so many good reads out there and I had to stop and think about what makes me love a book. I love kick-butt girl books where the main character discovers she has some sort of super power, like the ability to shift into a dragon and shoot fireballs at people who annoy her. Not that I’ve ever fantasized about doing that. LOL.

I also love books where the main character is dropped into a new world so the reader can discover how everything works along with the character. It eliminates a lot of data dumps and keeps the plot moving along. I’m not a big fan of narrative. I prefer to learn things through the characters interactions.
